Formerly a fishermen town, Tamarindo is now a tourist area developed to offer all the amenities of a Costa Rican beach town: surf, sand, good food, music and nice people all over, where you will also find a three and a half kilometer stretch of white sand and warm blue water.
Our town is the ideal place for weddings and honeymooners, couples, and families, and wonderfully suited to eco-adventures.
Tamarindo offers first class sport fishing, sailing, surfing, golfing, ATV tours, turtle watching, diving, horseback riding, canopy tours, jungle boat rides, beauty spa, an art gallery and crafts and pottery stores.
As a multi-cultural community, Tamarindo boasts several restaurants, whether you like to eat Vegetarian, Costa Rican style, Italian or Sea Food, it is all here.
The sun shines on our beautiful beach all year round, and the temperature is pleasantly warm, too.
In the rainy season, from May through October, you can expect a brief shower in the late afternoon, making the beach sparkle, and allowing for extraordinary sunsets.
Our town is surrounded by National Parks north and south, and mountains with breathtaking views.
Here we have the Leatherback Sea Turtles laying their eggs in La Baulas National park every year, Howler Monkeys are heard and seen swinging from branches wherever there is a tree.
